SCALE-iFlex LT NTC IGBT/SiC Module Gate Drivers Improve System Observability and Performance

PI’s new SCALE-iFlex LT NTC family of IGBT/SiC module gate drivers provides Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) data, which enables accurate thermal management of converter systems and ensures proper current sharing. They dramatically enhance the overall system reliability of renewable energy and rail systems with multiple modules arrayed in parallel.

The new plug-and-play driver boards optimize the popular dual, 100 mm x 140 mm IGBT modules like Mitsubishi™ LV100 and Infineon™ XHP 2, as well as silicon carbide (SiC) variants up to 2300 V. They handle paralleling so expertly that one module in five can be eliminated without loss of performance.

Each 2SMLT0220D module adapted gate driver (MAG) mounts neatly within the outline of the power module. Up to four MAG-driven modules can be parallel-connected from a single 2SILT1200T isolated master control (IMC) unit. Fully qualified to IEC 61000-4-x (EMI), IEC- 60068-2-x (environmental), and IEC-60068-2-x (mechanical) specifications, these gate drivers reduce development time by 12 to 18 months.
