Standard 7-segment displays with a wide range of operating temperatures. Available transmission, reflective or trans-reflective versions. Transmission displays are equipped with backlight, active pixels are always dark and inactive bright. Transmission displays are usually used together with active matrices, although sometimes passive transmission displays are used, e.g. in watches with tilting displays. The reflective display does not have a backlight, which results in poor visibility in the light. Its advantage is extremely low energy consumption. Most often it can be found, for example, in calculators and watches. The transition version between the transmission and reflective display is the transreflective display, which has the advantages of both modes. It can work with the backlight on as transmission displays, high image brightness is then provided. It can also work in reflective mode while changing energy consumption.
