Flame catchers

A flame arrester is a device designed to prevent the spread of fire from one area to another by interrupting the flammable sequence. It can be used in various situations, such as protecting cable conduits, ventilation ducts, or ventilation channels. Flame arresters are particularly important in public utility buildings, such as hospitals, schools, or hotels, where the number of people is usually higher than in ordinary residential buildings. They are also crucial in buildings where a large quantity of flammable materials is stored, such as oil refineries or chemical warehouses.

In the event of an explosion, the flame arrester prevents the flames from spreading beyond the device. Inside the flame arrester, there are multiple layers of metal mesh that form a flame arrestor element. This element reduces the temperature of the smoldering dust and gas below their ignition temperature. The smoldering dust is trapped in the arresting element, and the gases from the explosion are released by the device into the external atmosphere around the flame catcher. The Dacpol Flame Catcher™, typically used to protect filters, cyclones, dryers, mills, etc., is offered for this purpose.

Characteristics:

  • Compliance with EN16009:2011 standard.
  • Housing available in carbon steel, stainless steel, or aluminum.
  • Easy to install and practically maintenance-free.
  • Fire-resistant mesh in packages for easy replacement.

Basic Parameters:

  • Maximum operating pressure (pred): 0.5 bar.
  • Maximum burst pressure (pmaks): 10 bar.
  • Operating temperature range: -20°C to +70°C.

Available Sizes: Dimensions are external measurements. The volume of the vessel (VFC) used to test the flame arrester is specified in cubic meters (m³). The effective ventilation area (AE) in square meters (m²) pertains to the examination of the volume of products tested for explosiveness class St1. Flame Catcher™ flame arresters in other sizes, volumes, or made of synthetic materials are available upon request.
