ATEX engines

Completely modular series of ATEX aluminum motors. Feet and flanges can be mounted without affecting the Ex protection type. This gives a great advantage in warehouse management. Thanks to the use of feet and flanges, it is possible to obtain any required mounting configuration, and this operation can be performed without any issues to obtain ATEX and IECEx motor approval. ELPROM Ex electric motors are manufactured and tested in accordance with all EN/IEC standards, as well as the main European directives (2014/34/EU „ATEX” – 2014/30/EU „EMC” – 2006/42/EC „Machinery” - 2011/65/EC „RoHS II”) and the IECEx scheme (only for Ex db and Ex tb protection).

Three-phase motors with 1 speed

  • Asynchronous motors with squirrel cage rotor, self-cooling (IC411)
  • Continuous duty S1, insulation class “F”, 230/400V – 50Hz

For motors driven by an inverter:

  • The motor must be equipped with a PTC thermistor.
  • When the motor is driven by a frequency converter, this means that the voltage and current waveforms are not perfectly sinusoidal, which leads to increased losses and heat generation by the motor.
  • Changes in rotational speed affect the motor's ventilation (cooling changes).
  • The bearings operate under increased load and should be checked more frequently; for this reason, the period between checks when operating at speeds above 3600 rpm should never exceed 10% of the total operating cycle.

Standard motors are powered by 230/400V 50Hz voltage, but special versions can be made.

Three-phase motors with 2 speeds

  • Asynchronous motors with squirrel cage rotor, self-cooling (IC411)
  • Continuous duty S1, insulation class “F”, 400V – 50Hz

Constant torque (general purpose) Square torque (centrifuges, mixers)
Poles Connections High speed Low speed High speed Low speed
2/4 – 4/8 Dahlander connection YY Δ YY Y
4/6 – 6/8 2 separate windings Y Y Y Y

Single-phase motors with 1 speed

  • Asynchronous motors with squirrel cage rotor, self-cooling (IC411)
  • Continuous duty S1, insulation class “F”, 230V - 50Hz

The capacitor is placed in a special ‘Ex D’ housing and mounted on the motor. In the case of an external capacitor, it must be installed in a safe area, outside the explosion hazard zone.
