Resistors Mounted on Pins/Leads

Post-Mounted Resistors

  • High impulse energy rating
  • Compact size
  • Modular construction
  • UL94 V-0 approved

Typical applications:

  • Capacitor charging/discharging
  • Soft start
  • Dynamic braking

Post-mounted resistors offer a compact, cost-effective solution for use in high-energy charge and discharge applications. Units are assembled using stress-proof steel screws and locking nuts with textite porcelain insulating sleeves at each end for ease of mounting. The mounting compression force is achieved by using Schnorr disc springs (2 at each end). Brass terminals are provided for electrical connection.

Units can be pre-mounted to panel or caged using the provided extended studs.

All components used in post-mounted resistors are completely inorganic.

Resistor assemblies are therefore approved in accordance with UL94 V-0 standards with reference to fire and smoke regulations.

Technical Data

Standard types include SM 50-30, SM 50-50, and SM 50-100 modules.

  • Type – single disc: AB 845 (Quantity: 1)
  • Active material volume: 50 cc
  • Maximum impulse energy: ≥ 12.5 kJ (single impulse)
  • Maximum average power rating: ≥ 15W
  • Maximum operating temperature: 150 °C (continuous operation)

TYPE SM 50-50

  • Type – single disc: AB 853 (Quantity: 1)
  • Active material volume: 83 cc
  • Maximum impulse energy: ≥ 20.75 kJ (single impulse)
  • Maximum average power rating: ≥ 25W
  • Maximum operating temperature: 150 °C (continuous operation)

TYPE SM 50-100

  • Type – single disc: AB 853 (Quantity: 1)
  • Active material volume: 166 cc
  • Maximum impulse energy: ≥ 41.5 kJ (single impulse)
