Cooling units and industrial chillers, also known as water chillers, are devices designed to remove heat from systems, equipment, and installations that generate a large amount of heat. They are characterized by high cooling efficiency, translating into high effectiveness. Industrial cooling units and chillers are available in various models from DACPOL.

How do industrial chillers work?

Industrial chillers are liquid coolers in which the medium temperature is lowered using a freon evaporator by removing heat and transferring it to the environment. They also consist of a condenser, compressor, and expansion valve, creating a closed circuit in which the refrigerant circulates.

The refrigeration cycle of a chiller begins in the compressor, responsible for compressing the refrigerant and circulating it through the system. Then, in the condenser, it is cooled by first converting it to vapor using the expansion device, and finally to liquid. In this form, it absorbs heat from the medium in the evaporator, which can then return to the device and cool it. After this stage, the refrigerant returns to the compressor in the chiller and can restart the water or oil cooling process.

By using the refrigeration cycle, these devices effectively prevent overheating of machines, ensuring stable operation.

Types of industrial cooling units

Industrial chillers generally carry out the heat removal process from the cooling medium in the evaporator using fans. They are also available in versions independent of the cooling system network, equipped with a circulating pump and a tank to ensure uniform medium flow.

In DACPOL’s offer, you can find models:

-with a liquid tank and pump,

-without a tank, but with a pump.

Additionally, industrial cooling units are also categorized based on the medium they are intended to cool. This can be water or oil.

How to choose chillers?

Industrial cooling units should be selected based on three main criteria. The first is temperature requirements, which is the level to which the medium needs to be cooled. Chillers must have the ability to maintain the appropriate temperature difference to effectively cool equipment.

Next, it is necessary to calculate the thermal load, i.e., the amount of heat that needs to be removed. Based on this, it is possible to determine the appropriate cooling capacity that the industrial cooling units should have.

The final element is the type of cooling. It can be achieved using air or water. The latter option is more efficient and works better for installations with high cooling needs.

Applications of industrial chillers and cooling units

Industrial chillers and cooling units are widely used to maintain suitably low temperatures in:

-in injection molding machines,

-in the production of electronic components,

-in the chemical industry,

-in medical and laboratory applications,
