FLIR Si124 sonic camera for visualization of discharges

The FLIR Si124 is an easy-to-use, stand-alone system for detecting partial discharge problems in high-voltage electrical systems. This lightweight, one-handed solution is designed to help maintenance, manufacturing and engineering professionals identify issues up to 10 times faster than traditional methods. Built with 124 microphones, the Si124 produces a precise acoustic image that displays ultrasonic information, even in noisy industrial environments. The acoustic image is transposed in real time to the image from the digital camera, which allows the user to precisely locate the source of the sound. This smart tool comes with the “FLIR Acoustic Camera Viewer” cloud service and automatically saves images to it after taking them. Users can then access stored files and listed audio sources for deeper analysis and problem classification.

For preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on high-voltage systems, thermal imaging cameras have been used for many years to detect hotspots and thus are able to locate faults before they become too severe and minimize downtime. The use of ultrasonic equipment can often detect defects earlier than using a thermal imaging camera. Ultrasonic equipment cannot replace a thermal imaging camera, but it is a good complement to troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.

Find partial discharge problems faster

Detect partial and corona discharges up to 10 times faster compared to traditional methods with audio visualization.

Easy control

Locate, analyze and classify lightning with a convenient, intelligent tool.

Reliability improvement

Minimize equipment failures and downtime due to partial discharge issues

The most important features:

  • Locate problems with precision, even in noisy industrial environments, with high-resolution acoustic images and 124 built-in microphones
  • Partial discharge analysis and problem classification to improve the reliability of electrical systems
  • Safely detect problems up to 100 m away
  • Upload, store and back up data; create reports and perform in-depth analysis with FLIR Acoustic Camera Viewer cloud-based analytics
  • Operate the lightweight camera with one hand and easily view images on the screen even in bright outdoor conditions
