What are cable carriers?
Cable carriers are constructions designed for surrounding and implementing flexible electric cables, hydraulic or pneumatic pipes and moving parts of automatic machines. They’re built like a bicycle chain – including cells, which can be bent in one or two surfaces. They come in two options: open and closed. To separate particular cables, clamping and separators are used, because thinner wires can get stuck between thicker ones. Carriers are made of steel, aluminum and plastic.
What are cable carriers used for?
Carriers are used for miniaturization of use and strain of cables and hoses. Their use improves safety of the operator and decreases tangling if the cables. Carriers can be adjusted to horizontal, vertical, rotation and 3D movements.
How to choose cable carriers?
- To effectively choose a proper carrier following algorithm should be used:
- Define sizes of cable carrier and work range.
- Define number of cables, hoses and their external diameters to properly choose internal sizes of the carrier and find bending radiuses of cable and hoses to choose radius of the cable carrier.
- Find the entire weight of cables to choose proper slack of cable carrier.
- Picking separators.
- Picking clamping.
- Picking a right carrier due to the work conditions – it should be defined if there’s dust or in which external conditions will the carrier work (snow, rain, wind).
