Absolute encoders, also called sensors or digital transducers of rotation angle, are a perfect solution in applications requiring positioning precision - they transform mechanical change in angle position into an electrical signal, which can be used by the device’s control system.
Absolute encoders remember current position even after turning power off. We can distinguish such encoders as: single-rotation transducers with a code shield, multi-rotation transducers with gear transmission and code shields, incremental encoders with battery sustaining, and incremental transducers with inbuilt dynamo and nonvolatile memory.
