Slip rings can be used in electromechanical devices where it is required to transfer electrical signals to rotating parts of these devices. The signals transferred through the slip rings are continuously transmitted through them, allowing any number of rotations in any direction. Slip rings are also known by many other names: electrical rotary connectors, rotary unions, commutator connectors, brush connectors. Popular English names include: slip rings, rotary electrical interface, commutator, collector, swivel, electrical rotary joint. Slip rings with through holes are available in four versions – with hole sizes: 12.7mm, 25.4mm, 38.1mm, 50.0mm, 60.0mm, 70.0mm, 80.0mm, 90.0mm. On request, they can have over 100 contacts. The use of slip rings with a through hole allows easy mounting of the rings on a shaft and/or passing other electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic wires through their center. Slip rings have a long lifespan, specially designed brushes do not require lubrication or any additional maintenance throughout the entire usage period of the rings. Slip rings are maintenance-free devices.
